Private Group Sound Sessions
Sound Healing utilizes the principles of resonance, vibration, and integration of the body and mind. We are all vibrating beings made up of energy. Through breath, heartbeat, blood flow, and cellular movement, we are in constant motion. With an understanding of bio-rhythms, a facilitator of Sound and Vibrational Therapy will "tune in" to each person with whom they work, learning from the wisdom of the body where tension is being held and how to release it.

Cupping Therapy
Compliment any massage with cups for $20
30 minute cupping session: $65

Cupping is the term applied to a technique that uses small jars (different materials may be used including glass, plastic, silicone, rubber or bamboo) as suction devices that are placed on the skin. Fleuresh practitioners will place the cup atop the skin and then use a hand held trigger to remove the air from the cup, thus creating a negative pressure – or suction. Once the suction has occurred, the cups can be gently moved across the skin or the therapist may decide it is best to leave the cup in a static placement. The suction in the cups causes the skin and superficial muscle layer to be lightly drawn into the cup. Cupping is much like the inverse of massage - rather than applying pressure to muscles, it uses gentle pressure to pull them upward. For most recipients, this is a particularly relaxing and relieving sensation, though a slight initial pinching is not uncommon. The negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure). Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even cellulite.

What is cupping therapy used for?
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including helping with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

How does cupping therapy help muscles?
Cupping is a technique used in conjunction with other applicable massage techniques. Cupping pulls blood to a region to stimulate healing. It is effective at stretching tight fascia and muscles. Cupping helps the tissue develop new blood flow and causes anti-inflammatory chemicals in the body.

How long do cupping marks last?
The coloring typically ranges from bright red to a darker purple, and can last from 3 days to a week. A darker coloring means that there is a high level of toxins and stagnation in the section of the body that has been treated. In this case, the marks can last for up to 3 weeks.

What areas can be cupped?
Like acupuncture, cupping follows the lines of the meridians. There are five meridian lines on the back, and these are where the cups are usually placed. Depending on what you are target, hands, wrists, legs, ankles and the bottoms of feet may also be cupped. Using specific points, cupping can help to align and relax qi, as well as target more specific maladies. By targeting the meridian channels, cupping strives to 'open' these channels - the paths through which life energy flows freely throughout the body, through all tissues and organs, thus providing a smoother and more free-flowing qi (life force). Cupping is one of the best deep-tissue therapies available. It is thought to affect tissues up to four inches deep from the external skin. Toxins can be released, blockages can be cleared, and veins and arteries can be refreshed within these four inches of affected materials.

PREGNANCY MASSAGE

Learn more about Pregnancy Massage!

There are many questions and misunderstandings in regards to visiting spas and salons during pregnancy. Whether this is your first pregnancy or your fifth, you are well aware that you must be careful about what you do, ingest, how you move and sleep, what environments you are in, etc.
Below is some clarification for spa goers who may have some apprehension about what is safe. We have such a vast amount of information at our fingertips and you may have noticed that some information is contradictory to another source. For example, on some spa websites you may see that they advise NOT to get a massage in the first trimester because certain pressure points can cause a miscarriage Furthermore, you may read that you may not receive any deep work or any bodywork at all on areas of concern. These suggestions do have validity when your therapist is uneducated in prenatal practices.

A little history.

In the last 150 years, the new invention of modern medicine has corrupted the childbirth practices we have used throughout human history. In 1848, after deciding women lacked the intellectual capacity to understand the advances in modern medicine, they called for the abolition of midwifery, which included all massage practices associated with pregnancy and labor. Since then, women have slowly gained the rights we have today, including how we choose to carry and deliver our children, which is something our bodies naturally know how to do. Although modern medicine has made positive leaps and bounds and has dramatically improved the mortality rate of labor, there is a significant amount of knowledge we have sadly lost in our western culture. We have forgotten the importance of the wisdom of our mothers before us. We have forgotten that our bodies were designed for pregnancy and labor and our natural instincts will guide us. But, most importantly, we have forgotten that our bodies require love and attention from ourselves and others to thrive - especially during pregnancy.
Five Prenatal Massage Myths:

The first myth is that massage can cause miscarriage.

-
A miscarriage is described as a “spontaneous loss of a pregnancy before the fetus is visible” which is at 20 weeks.
-
The causes of miscarriages have to do with maternal conditions and embryonic abnormalities.
-
In fact in nearly half of all cases, the embryo was chromosomally abnormal and not visible, which is clearly unrelated to massage.
The second myth is that massage is contraindicated in the first trimester.

-
The first line of reasoning is that most miscarriages happen within the first trimester, so if the practitioner does not give a massage, blame for the miscarriage is avoided.
-
As we just went over, the science does not attribute the miscarriage to the massage.
-
The second line is that most women suffer from morning sickness, and waiting for the nausea to subside is best. This has validity but not every women suffers from morning sickness and not every women who has morning sickness has it in the morning.
-
It is OKAY to call and cancel if you are feeling nauseas or are vomiting before the massage. We would not be able to go through with the massage anyway. When you do feel nauseas, there is a pressure point on your wrist.
The third myth is that the abdomen should never be massaged during the first trimester.

-
The fear is that the practitioner may cause a miscarriage by pressing to hard and dislodging the placenta.
-
Only a traumatic shock to the abdomen could cause serious injury.
The fourth myth is that the feet and hands should not be massaged during pregnancy.

-
While massage on acupuncture points on the feet, lower legs, and hands is contraindicated, it requires deep sustained pressure.
-
Women generally experience moderate to serious swelling in their feet and legs as pregnancy progresses, and performing lymphatic drainage will always be the method we use to treat those areas.
-
Lymphatic drainage will reduce the swelling without damaging sensitive lymph vessels, and is the only safe technique for the legs up to 3 months postpartum.
Myth five is that a pregnant women should lie only on her left side, whether in bed or on the massage table.

-
Although sleeping on the left side is usually preferred, it is not required, and sleeping on the right side is sometimes more appropriate.
-
Women are often encouraged to sleep on their left sides because the position improves blood flow to the placenta, keeps the heavy uterus off the liver, keeps the weight off the growing fetus off of the inferior vena cava and aorta, and promotes improved kidney function, which helps reduce swelling.
-
However women’s muscles and joints may become sore after you lie on the same side for many months, and its most important that you get your sleep (which is very difficult if the only way you can sleep becomes sore).
-
Right side sleeping is actually preferred in cases of heartburn and indigestion because this position allows the stomach to empty at a faster rate, and sometimes the position of the fetus makes lying the on the right side more comfortable.
